WRAP UP IN ‘VELVET’ FOR A TOUCH OF CLASS
Canal Street has always been known (and let’s face it probably always will be known!!) as the best place in Manchester to go for a cheesy dance. An area that first started as a somewhat safe haven for homosexuals in the city, Canal Street has now become one of Manchester’s hotspots. It has grown to be a place for all genders, all ages and somewhere that was just supposed to be fun but still there was something missing but now that has changed with the addition to the Velvet Hotel.
If you ask me, Velvet has always been the one venue on Canal Street that added some well-needed class and luxury to the city centre strip but now with the addition of the Velvet Hotel, the luxury lifestyle, the thing that was missing has finally arrived. We, here at AGENT2 Magazine, have been impressed with the idea of the Hotel and headed to meet the Velvet team to see what they had to say on the latest Canal Street attraction.
Anyone who has ever been to Velvet will know that it is not one of the many bars on Canal Street that considers itself to be a Gay Bar or Gay Restaurant, but a place where friends and families can come together to enjoy a meal or a cocktail. The Velvet Hotel has been put in place for the exact same reason and the staff have promised that the hotel and its service will have the very same ‘very velvety style’ as they take things to another level. Not only do they believe that the Velvet Hotel can help Canal Street’s reputation but Manchester’ too!
The Directors there at Velvet enlisted the help of Richard Chadwick, of Richard Chadwick Associates, who has been instrumental in the design of Velvet from day one to come back and help with the latest Velvet project. With the very ‘out there’ ideas of the directors of Velvet, Richard is then able to put pen to paper to create the perfect venue. To create the perfect hotel there has to be the perfect team and it has been a team effort to bring together the decadent hotel that now stands in place.
Velvet has always been a venue renowned for its quirky style and individuality, this style has seeped into the hotel as each one of the three Penthouse Suites have been very much created by Mark, Sunni and Sue (the Velvet directors) and you can see their distinctive designs in each of the rich personalities shining through each Penthouse Suite. Mark’s is a very comfortable cosy space which envelopes you and makes you want to lounge around and relax; Sue’s is a much more contemporary clean-lined feel, slightly more feminine with bold statements of colour; finally, there is Sunni’s, which is a 5 star bachelor pad with extravagant wallpaper and a New York loft feel about it.
As a brand, Velvet promises to be strong completion with other hotels in Manchester. Velvet has some very unique markets to pitch itself to and with just 19 bedrooms, each guest will truly feel looked after in style and definitely feel that personal touch and if you re after something a little different from your hotel stay, Velvet is the place to try.
When asked what was next for the Velvet brand, ‘simply looking forward to the next year of growing the hotel and looking after our customers’ was the proud and sure reply.
